"Great Scott!
"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads", and "Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one". I don't think there is a person I know who does not like Back to the Future. We all love Doc Brown, his dog Einstein, Marty, and even old Biff. We love the music, the plot, and the magic of the whole experience. It is easy to see why the film remains such a beloved classic—the characters and that iconic time-traveling DeLorean are legendary.
Beyond the nostalgia, however, one thing stands out: no matter who you are or how famous you become, life is unpredictable. Michael J. Fox has always been a great actor, but what is truly extraordinary is that he did not let a terrible disease like Parkinson's define him.
"It is one of the great ironies of my life that only when it became virtually impossible for me to keep my body from moving would I find the peace, security, and spiritual strength to stand in one place. I couldn't be still until I could—literally—no longer keep still." — Lucky Man, Michael J Fox.
It is inspiring to see how he has navigated his journey. While Back to the Future captured our imaginations with its humor and heart, the real-life resilience displayed by Michael J. Fox offers a different, deeply moving kind of inspiration. By choosing to use his platform to advocate for research rather than retreating from the public eye, he transformed a deeply personal challenge into a mission that has benefited millions. His ability to maintain his wit and integrity while facing such significant adversity proves that the way one responds to life's "shit happens" moments can define a legacy far more than any diagnosis.
"Life delivered me a catastrophe, but I found a richness of soul."
In the above image the DeLorean remains at the center as a symbol of overcoming limitations. Just as the car defies the constraints of time, Michael J. Fox has defied the constraints imposed by his condition. Both the film and his personal mission resonate deeply because they remind us that while life is unpredictable, our response is entirely our own.
"One's dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but it can never be taken away unless it is surrendered." - Michael J Fox..
